Save Money on Catering
If you plan on hiring a caterer soon, whether it’s for a wedding, corporate event, or family party, there are ways to hire the caterer you want without the large bill you don’t. Here are some ways to save money on your catering costs while still hiring the reputable Salt Lake City caterer that you want.
-Compare costs of decorations. Some catering or event halls provide their own tables, chairs, linens, and decorations. Determine which company is the cheapest and use them. If you desire to use flowers and candles, the caterer may be able to get these for less than you can.
-Choose the buffet. Small appetizers may seem less expensive, but if you take into account how many your guests will eat over the event time, as well as the cost of the waiters, hors d’oeuvres may be more expensive. Buffets or dinner services can fill up your guests for about the same price as hors d’oeuvres.
-Order less expensive food. Avoid expensive items like shrimp, lobster, and steak if you want to save money. Instead order chicken and less expensive food. Don’t forget to order plenty of filler foods like bread and rolls, which cost less than other food items but are just as satisfying.
-Ask about alcohol. Some caterers supply the beverages, but alcohol can cost you a bundle. To save money, see if you can supply the beverages without a corking fee.
-Supply the caterer an accurate guest count. Most caterers give a cushion on the food supply of 2-5% for unexpected guests. By providing the actual number of guests, you can save some money.
